A group of World War II evacuees from Eastbourne worked with Year 7 students from Eastbourne Technology College and poet John Davies to produce poetry, dance and memory boxes about living in the 1940s.

This all happened in the first week of March to celebrate National Book Week. A surprise was when some of the evacuees revealed their first school was the College or as it was first known as Hampden Park Secondary School. A small painting and newspaper cuttings about the school collected by the evacuees from 1943 and 1945 were shown to the students and teachers.
